Isn’t it the most frustrating thing?

The black list is still in the back of my mind, even though things seem to have calmed down for me. But I will definitely do it, if some more people take my work.

Hi! I’m sorry for the delay in the reply, but I was on vacation and didn’t really see this page for a couple of weeks!

I use a Opteka underwater bag, which I bought on Amazon.com! I hope that helps!

Those wedding photos you just posted are absolutely gorgeous. Assuming I get married someday, and assuming you'd want to make the trip to America, I definitely want to hire you! But I'm single so this is entirely hypothetical, lol. :)

I’ve been told that my work is too dark these days, which I agree with. The thing is, I love it when my work is dark — it usually means that I’m happy, that I’m joyful enough to do these things and laugh while I do them; to find the gruesome stuff as cool as a five year old boy does; to have the time of my life with skulls and fake blood and darkish items. It means I’m okay. Really.

This was mostly a try out of my new ND filter. I’ve been wanting to do shallow-DOF photos in studio for a while, but I only got the cash to buy a filter now. I love it. It gives the photos such a different tone, such a softness. I really do love it.

There are two more in the comments. My love wanted me to post ths first one, but I didn’t like the stare. What do you guys think?

I was going through a few old folders today and I found a bunch of outtakes from my 52 Weeks project that I didn’t edit back then. I don’t know why — whether I had a better photo in line, or it fit the mood better — but I saw this and was slapped in the face with the idea.

Portugal got kicked out of the Euro Cup two nights ago. I’m not going to say I cheered them on — on our first game, I actually pulled for Germany, because I saw the portuguese boys as a bunch of spoiled brats who had a history of making us look bad in these competitions. As the cup went on, though, I found myself rooting more and more. I was yelling as much as everyone else during the game with Spain, and I was sad when it ended.

That’s why this idea struck me. The red, typically portuguese scarf I have on my back, the fallen position. I took this about what? A year ago? Little did I know about what was to come, about all the light and darkness that my life would be infused with, about the love I was about to feel. It’s a dark photo, but I feel as if I had to get to this point of light to be able to edit it with the tone that it deserves.

Like I promised a couple of days ago, here are the photos from the carnival Tina and I took Gabs to on Sunday. We had a wonderful time — G was insane with all the carousels, the popcorn and cotton candy and the little things she could buy. She was just so happy! And I have to confess that I was happy too — put me in a carousel any day of the week and you’ll turn me into a giggly mess.

Weeks of Summer: #1

Hi, guys! I hope you’re all doing wonderfully and that you’re enjoying the Summer just as much as I am! I’ve had an unbelievably busy week, but I managed to photograph a lot of the things and places I visited, so I thought I would share the photos with you!

Since my four year old sister, Gabs, was with me, I had some fun with her at our beach house.

The hydrangeas were absolutely stunning. I can never get enough of them.

Gabs and I found these snail shells; she thought they would make a nice picture, and she was right. It’s incredible that this girl loves photography so much, already. She’s adorable. And she’s constantly trying to steal my camera. I need to be more careful.

Oh, I have to tell you guys about my rooftop garden! It’s blooming so beautifully! Right now I have blackberries, blueberries, raspberries (even though they’re not coming out this year), strawberries, peppers, eggplants and tomatoes. I’m enjoying it so much, watching them grow and get alive and productive. I’m a city girl through and through, so I’d never had this kind of experience all the way. My herb gardens usually die out, but these are lasting and actually giving something out!

Of course, I had to make that place pretty and I took my summer lights upstairs. I bought them at IKEA; they work on solar energy and they look wonderful on pictures.

I’m not a huge fan of sunset photos, but this was just too beautiful not to share.

Oh, and my favorite experience of the week! I finally got around to make the cherry jam I had been promising everyone here at home. It took me a few hours on thursday afternoon, but the result was pretty amazing. My hands were black after I spent an hour taking seeds off 2kg of cherries, but it was absolutely worth it.

I have one more event I’d like to blog about: a trip to a Carnival with my sister, but since I have so many pictures, I post that one individually.

I started using my underwater camera bag last week, on a tank I had here at home. I’m crazy about it; later this week, I’ll be sinking myself in my mom’s pool and taking some brand new (and hopefully decent) selfies.

Help me out?

I’ve had an idea for a project for a couple of months now, a series. The problem is, the props that are absolutely necessary are expensive, and right now I don’t have the money to buy them. So I decided to sell prints to try to come up with the money I need to put this project to work.

I will be selling two sizes of prints, all on Fuji Supreme Paper (Matte). In the back, you’ll have the author’s signature, as well as the title and the month/year it was taken.

Large prints:
20x30 cm (around 7”x11”) — 30€ (around $38)

Medium prints:
15x20cm (around 6”x8”) — 25€ (around $32)

The shipping for anywhere outside Portugal costs 3,50€ ($4,50). For Portugal, it’s 2€. if you order more than one print, the shipping value is paid only once.

Hey Lu :) Going through this blog in particular, where there's a huge pause between your recent shoot and the previously posted, I am amazed by the way you've grown as a photographer. Your photos are more specific, yet going deeper and therefore they are more powerful. Whenever you might feel uninspired... go back to where your photography began and see what you've archived already. On a sidenote: I looooooove the idea of a colour-based series, looking good so far :) #BerlinCallingAnonymusly ;P

I met Sofia a few years back, when we were doing our first NaNoWriMos. We talked online, occasionally, and finally got to be face to face at last year’s Tumblr Meet, here in Porto. She’s a wonderful friend and I was ridiculously excited when she told me, a couple of months ago, that she was spending a weekend here with her boyfriend — and that they wouldn’t mind it if I took some pictures.

We met on a cloudy day back in April. They were absolutely wonderful throughout the entire session — patient and kind and willing to try everything I asked them to. These pictures were a delight for me to process for many reasons — because they are a sweet, good looking couple, because they were fun as hell to be with, but mostly, because they are so in love that it made me happy to be able to share it with the world.
